Job Description:

The Senior Accountant will be responsible for various accounting functions such as: Month End Closing, Balance Sheet analysis, recording of payroll & tax expenses, IFRS 16 (lease accounting), intercompany reconciliations, sales/use tax, GST/HST, VAT reconciliations, interactions with internal control, corporate tax (Domestic & International), fixed asset maintenance, CAPEX.

• Perform simple to complex general accounting functions including the preparation and review of monthly journal entries for various markets within fresh (such as payroll, intercompany transactions, depreciation, IFRS 16 lease accounting, accruals)
• Analyze and reconcile balance sheet and P&L accounts
• Lead the month end and or quarterly closing and participate in the consolidation process of financial statements
• Validate accuracy of sales/use tax return, GST/HST, VAT, CRT and property tax
• Maintain all fixed asset and depreciation schedules and reconcile the WIP accounts, acquisition, disposal, and capex reporting for all Fresh (North America and Headquarters)
• Review and enhance accounting processes and general ledger reporting capabilities including documenting and maintaining accounting procedures and liaise with the internal control team
• Perform the balance sheet, cash flow flux analysis commentary
• Partner with other departments to understand and support proper accounting and resolve reconciling differences
• Involve with various schedules supporting the corporate tax filing (domestic and international)
• Assist with various special projects
