Job Description:
The Environmental team within the Casualty Claims Department
provides specialized claim handling of first-party and third-party
pollution claims. The claims involve bodily injury and
site/property remediation on varied pollution policies and products
to include energy, underground storage tanks, premises pollution,
contractors pollution liability (CPL) and CPL with E&O coverage
as well as certain general liability. This people leader position
will be responsible for a team of up to 6 adjusters.
Responsibilities: The desired candidate is service-oriented and
results-driven and must also possess excellent administrative,
leadership and organizational skills. Candidate must be able to
make timely and appropriate decisions. Experience in performance
management, training and staff development is a strong plus. This
position will: Assist team members in developing and executing
claim resolution strategies. Train, develop and manage a team of
handlers by developing and executing on individual professional
development plans for each team member. Recognize significant
potential exposures on claims and prepare appropriate alerts to
senior managers and our internal business partners. Conduct monthly
self-audits against Best Practices standards. Provide exceptional
service to our internal and external business partners. Analyze and
identify coverage issues timely coverage and communicate coverage
positions to appropriate parties. Authorize reserve and settlement
authority to team members. Directs and closely monitors cases with
financial impact in team through trial/resolution. Timely sets
reserves within authority or makes claim recommendations concerning
reserve changes to management. Travel up to 25%. At least five
years of experience in claims management with a high degree of
competence in the handling of complex casualty claims involving
pollution and environmental claims stemming from property damage
and bodily injury, is required. Experience should include handling
both first- and third-party pollution claims, including active
remediations on a claims made and reported basis as well as
occurrence based general liability policies. Strong presentation
and negotiation skills. Excellent interpersonal communications and
negotiation skills; and an ability to deal with customers and
business partners in a professional manner. Ability to make prompt,
intelligent decisions based upon detailed analysis of complex
issues. An advanced degree (JD or MBA) is preferred but not

The pay range for the role is $117,000 to $198,900. The specific
offer will depend on an applicant’s skills and other factors. This
role may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual

geographic differential for the location in which the position is
