Job Description

Forbes Marketplace is looking for an editor with consumer finance writing and editing experience to join the Forbes Marketplace team as Deputy Editor.

The consumer finance team covers a wide swath of topics including the latest news on federal policy, personal finance, consumer spending, savings and debt-all with an eye on how it affects the reader. We want to help guide our readers to make the best choices through engaging stories and data- and SEO-driven journalism. Responsibilities:
--- Help the lead editor build and scale consumer finance's content efforts, including managing the day-to-day content workflow
--- Help the lead editor create tools (e.g. calculators) and collaborate with SEO to generate ideas for evergreen content
--- Keep track of content performance to determine what stories to update or optimize
--- Find, recruit, and set up new freelancers. Train and support freelancers on how to use Forbes tools and style guides
--- Monitor events and issues that impact our readership
--- Brainstorm and create assignments for freelancers that include evergreen stories, explanatory stories, how-tos and product reviews. This includes new stories and updating existing stories in our archive
--- Developmentally edit, proofread, fact-check, copy edit and fact-check a high volume of stories
--- Build methodologies to rate and rank related products and services for best-ofs

Requirements:

--- At least 2 years experience in personal finance journalism
--- 3-5 years of experience in online journalism
--- Demonstrably strong understanding of the consumer finance space
--- Experience with SEO best practices, willingness to learn and expand SEO skills
--- Extremely organized and detail-oriented
--- Nimble and open to quick changes in strategy
