Job Description:
The Climate School at Columbia University invites applications
for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position: the Paros
Professorship in Geohazards and Climate Mitigation. The successful
candidate will conduct research in climate-change related
geohazards, such as landslides, wildfires, flooding, and extreme
weather events, and mitigation capable of alleviating the impacts
of such hazards. We seek broadly-trained earth and environmental
scientists or environmental engineers who complement the
interdisciplinary faculty at and the (where the position will be
based). While candidates from all sub-disciplines of earth and
environmental science and engineering are encouraged to apply,
preferences will be given to those who work on field
instrumentation and laboratory experimentation, satellite remote
sensing, and sensor development.
Applicants should have a PhD in earth and environmental sciences or
engineering or related field. Successful candidates are expected to
demonstrate a commitment to diversity and equity in education
through their scholarship, teaching, and service. Columbia
