  • Provides senior level leadership in defining and implementing the vision, strategy, procedures, organizational structures, human resources and information systems necessary to effectively, contract and financially manage Takeda's outsourced R&D activities on a global basis.
  • Partners with key R&D functions across each region to enable us to be more effective, efficient and predictable in our interactions with our supplier base, which requires implementation of best practices with each partner and across categories, and standardization of our outsourcing activities.
  • Sets strategy and keeps informed on best practices for innovative technology integration capabilities for best-in-class outsourcing management.
  • Lead Clinical Partner Outsourcing Managers, inspire high levels of performance, and provide strategic direction and mentorship.ACCOUNTABILITIES :
    • Oversee Clinical Partner Outsourcing team, which partners with key functions (including Therapeutic Area Units/Business Units, Regional Development Centers, Clinical Operations, Clinical Site Startup & Engagement) in our engagements with partners and specifically execution of key agreements essential to ensuring predictable delivery of Takeda's portfolio.
    • Responsible for ensuring all contracts and agreements support predictable delivery and quality, and that Takeda's supplier base is aligned with Takeda's strategic objectives, values, and policies
    • Provide Senior-Level leadership for strategic definition, creation, documentation, and maintenance of global Clinical Outsourcing management and processes. Partner with key functions to continuously refine and improve contracting processes, templates, and approach to ensure efficiency and accuracy in contracting
    • Define best practices through industry benchmarking, harmonization and integration of systems, and applying data analytics. Anticipate and identify external industry trends impacting Takeda's operating model and make recommendations to GDO Leadership team based on defined best practices to promote optimal outsourcing performance.
    • Develop innovation strategy and keep track of available technologies to implement and support best-in-class clinical outsourcing approach, including to reduce costs, accelerate timelines, and improve quality.
    • Proactively identifies potential Clinical Partner Outsourcing management issues, develops contingency plans and manages issues to resolution
    • Assess contracting and purchase order systems/tools to select and act as business owner of single suitable option for all Clinical Partner Outsourcing needs,
    • Responsible for training, coaching and mentoring supervised employees (direct and indirectly supervised) to create a culture that attracts, retains and develops the most effective people.CORE ELEMENTS RELATED TO THIS ROLE :
      • Responsible for facilitating valued collaboration with Takeda internal stakeholders and clinical trial delivery partners to achieve high quality and optimized execution through effective outsourcing and contracting practices
      • Support the Head, Clinical Partner Outsourcing in developing cross-enterprise view of capability gaps, engage with Takeda and the strategic suppliers to prioritize gaps and capability management
      • Support system optimization and automation efforts to enable technology for functional responsibilities
      • Ensures compliance with internal policies and procedures, GCPs, and applicable regulations, as well as inspection readiness of all regulated activities
      • Create a culture focused on quality, patient safety, and "Takeda-ism" that attracts, retains, and develops the most effective peopleEDUCATION, BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:
        • Bachelor's Degree or international equivalent required, Life Sciences preferred
        • 10+ years experience in the pharmaceutical industry and/or clinical research organization, including 7+ years in clinical outsourcing, contract management, or procurement
        • Experience in people leadership, managing global teams and coordinating collaboration with cross-functional teams
        • Strong strategic thinking, planning, execution, and communication skills
        • Successful negotiation, cost reduction and process improvement achievements
        • Global/international experience required, including ability to collaborate with colleagues and staff in other locations
