DONOR RELATIONS MANAGER Reports to the Director of Development
Level: Manager Type: Full-time, salary-exempt POSITION SUMMARY The
Donor Relations Manager will build on existing advancement efforts
and proactively support the Director of Development, CEO, Chief of
Staff, and other senior team members in the management of prospect
and donor relationships, implementing engagement, stewardship,
cultivation, and recognition activities that generate short and
long-term results while deepening and diversifying RTC---s funding
base. As the primary position in charge of ensuring that donors and
prospects are engaged, thanked, recognized, and invited to be a
part of the larger mission, this position requires an approach that
borrows best practices from client service and investor relations
industries. Success in this position requires someone who possesses
superior organization skills, is enthusiastic about working in
collaboration with others, and has strong interpersonal skills to
manage information, relationships, and activities within competing
project deadlines across multiple teams. The Donor Relations
Manager will report to the Director of Development and work in
coordination with additional Development and Communications team
members to raise and retain the necessary funds to operate the
organization and build long-term resiliency. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES Donor Relations & Communications Manage the
day-to-day implementation of donor engagement initiatives and
recognition activities. Use information about donor interests to
design, implement, and oversee an editorial calendar of individual
and mass donor communications that integrates with RTC's programs
and events schedule and grants proposal calendar. (This will be in
partnership with the Communications Team.) Own and manage donor
cultivation and recognition calendar, leveraging RTC program events
and Executive activities to ensure that donors are experiencing
deeper engagement with the mission Work in close collaboration with
the Director of Development, who is responsible for overseeing
fundraising operations on strategies and information tracking
processes regarding acknowledgment, recognition, ongoing
communications, and continued cultivation of past and current
donors and members. Support the Director of Development and
Executives in cultivation, direct solicitation, and stewardship of
new major gifts, high-net-worth donors, and prospects working to
ensure that each major donor and prospect has a clear strategy and
timeline for cultivation solicitation and stewardship. Assist the
Director of Development in creating and formalizing donor
engagement and recognition plans with strategies for donors at
various levels for various program ventures and capital campaigns.
Leveraging the knowledge capital and talents of our volunteers and
donors, develop activities that better connect our staff, coaches,
and clients to interested philanthropic partners Support the
creation of a pipeline of funding packages to proactively reach out
to donors for potential support based on current and future
products, services, and initiatives Serve as secondary relationship
manager for a portfolio of donors and prospects, helping to develop
and implement cultivation strategies and maintain records (using
Salesforce) of all interactions. Manage assigned relationships with
great thought and care to increase engagement and revenue Work
closely with senior leadership to understand and articulate the
case for each of RTC---s programs in alignment with specific
individual donor and foundation interests Record donor touchpoints,
interactions, and updates in the Salesforce database Special Event
Planning & Management Manage donor site visits, funder briefings,
and other special events throughout the year Design, implement, and
oversee set-up, production, and post-production of donor events
with the partnership of the Communications Team Provide creative
input into design and printing of programs, signage, banners Assist
with honoree and sponsorship research, development, and
solicitation Work with communications and development team to
produce sponsorship and other materials Develop event budgets and
track income and expenditures Work with Programs team to recruit
RTC entrepreneurs to attend events and help create unique donor
experiences Support Director of Development and Executives with the
management of Strategic Advisory Board meetings and activities
QUALIFICATIONS An established fundraising professional with at
least 5 years of relevant non-profit development and/or
communications experience Superior writing, proofreading, and
editing abilities; have a customer service approach to
communications with donors and other VIPs Well-developed
organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and
follow-through; ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
A strong work ethic, ability to maintain and model high personal,
ethical, and professional standards, as well as an outgoing and
positive personality with creativity, patience, a sense of humor,
and perspective A passion and commitment for the mission of RTC and
have a clear understanding and appreciation for poverty
alleviation, micro-enterprise development, gender, and racial
equity or economic development Excellent analytical, written, and
verbal communication and presentation skills, with proven success
tailoring messages to a variety of audiences, particularly in
articulating organizational alignment with donor interests Ability
to develop and enhance strong communications standards and
workflows while working with Communications to disseminate
donor-focused content across multiple mediums, including social
media, newsletters, and more Independent thinking with openness and
excitement for new ideas; passion for a collegial team environment
and working with multiple colleagues on different projects at the
same time An entrepreneurial spirit that thrives in a changing,
fast-paced, high performing organization
