OverviewThe Managing Director and Joint General Manager provides leadership, oversight and strategic direction for one or more departments within BCDAD. Consults with leadership to oversee execution of business operations in order to optimize service quality, cost effectiveness, and profitability through business development. Ensures all in-scope departments are compliant with regulatory requirements as well as the internal policies and procedures of the bank and global head office.This role maintains overall accountability for the organizational structure and activities of it's oversight area. Has unlimited cash flow authority, transaction approval authority and control distribution as defined for a MD & JGM. May oversee a large and complex portfolio of business. Acts as final point of escalation for complex, critical or highly sensitive operational, regulatory and customer service issues. Identifies, contributes to and executes strategic initiatives in alignment with related counterparties and senior leadership of the bank. Ensures business continuity under all conditions, sometimes adverse, with strict adherence to established guidelines and deadlines. Serves as senior most point of contact for external auditors, regulators and investigators. Reports to Managing Director and General Manager. Number of direct reports: up to 10 Number of indirect reports: up to 100Responsibilities

  • Provides strategic direction to ensure covered business activities of Settlement Operations ( Funds Transfer, Client Service, Trade Service Operations are executed accurately and efficiently within market deadlines. Accountable for strict compliance with internal and external regulations.
  • Manages and guides departmental leadership to ensure governance and risk management processes and functions are well managed and controlled consistently across all departments.
  • Motivates and guides teams to meet and/or exceed the needs of the bank's corporate and institutional clients while ensuring cost effective delivery of services.
  • Leads and/or participates in bank wide projects, taskforces, planning sessions and committees. Remains up-to-date on standards across the organization and the industry and to maintain a competitive edge.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with peers throughout the bank to create synergies between new product development, sales expansion and the operational capacity to support business.
  • Manages and/or consults on complex or highly sensitive employee relations matters, strategic and tactical workforce planning, compensation planning, performance management, mentorship and professional development in collaboration with the department leadership team.
  • Participates as a subject matter expert in new product development launches, security and technology activities and other enterprise-wide strategic initiatives.
  • Plans and oversees system upgrades and implementations for operations and business continuity purposes.
  • Acts as Business Process Owner for defined business applications. Approves changes and/or user additions for applications owned.
  • Reviews, updates and edits PPM for accuracy on an annual basis.
  • Participates in Disaster Recovery and Information Security activities to ensure protection of the bank's assets.
  • Participates in such other tasks, projects and initiatives as may be required.Qualifications
    • Minimum of 15 years of specialized experience in Financial Services experience; 10-15 years business/industry experience; 5+ years of experience in a senior leadership role managing an operations team in a financial services institution with a focus on bank back office operations specifically Funds Transfer, Client Service and Trade Service Operations.
    • Expert understanding of Money Transfer products, (USD Clearing business, CHIPS, Fedwire , ACH, SWIFT and related business process and how they should be administered and controlled.
    • Expert understanding of financial services operations both within the US and in multiple foreign countries; understanding of different customer information requirements.
    • Ability to understand the use of technology systems to accomplish required results.
    • People management experience, along with strong collaboration and influencing skills.
    • Senior level managerial skills including ability to manage projects, budget, liaise with senior management, staff allocation and training.
    • Expert knowledge of regulatory framework in the region and well versed in internal policies and procedures.
    • Ability to understand how technology, regulatory environment and information flow will impact the business over time.
    • Ability to professionally develop, motivate, challenge and guide members of the team.
    • Fluency in office productivity software: MS Office (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint), SharePoint.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills, presentation skills and negotiating skills with an exceptional service orientation.
    • Strong stakeholder management skills; be able to communicate directly and effectively.
    • Successful candidate will be able to prioritize workload, work under tight deadlines, and work effectively with user community.
