lives of patients. -The Director, Public Affairs and Communications
is responsible for developing and implementing communication
strategy, both external and internal, that supports Mitsubishi
Tanabe Pharma America, Inc. [MTPA, including and Mitsubishi Tanabe
Pharma Canada (MTP-CA)], their affiliated companies when necessary,
and their brands, both commercialized and in development. This
includes the formulation, execution, and support of comprehensive
and integrated strategic and tactical communication plans in
collaboration with business clients, partners, external agencies,
consultants, healthcare providers, advocacy groups, industry
associations, legislative bodies, patient communities, and
employees. This experienced communications professional is also
responsible to develop compelling holistic communications
strategies to drive growth and strengthen our reputation. This role
will also ensure consistency and alignment with overall MTPC
Corporate Communications policies and guidance.
Responsibilities
- Performs a strategic role in the organization providing
leadership and stewardship of public affairs and
communications.
- Innovates, develops and executes holistic communications
strategies and tactical plans to support company development,
support of products and pipeline across multiple therapeutic areas
and regions, organizational and reputation,
- Supports product launches, medical conference communications,
press releases, and internal communications (in orchestration with
other functional teams and executives.)
- Drives executive communications and supports senior executives
with internal and external communications and their
strategies.
- Promotes executive visibility, including conceptualizing,
seeking, vetting and preparing for opportunities, based on audience
and communication goals, e.g., speaking engagements, media
interviews and policy/political engagement.
- Manages crisis communications, as needed, working with
Mitsubishi Tanabe Pharma Group in Japan and other global
counterparts as needed to align messaging and tone.
- Manages and maintains key internal and external communications
assets and channels (both physical and digital) such as the MTPA
and related websites, intranet, newsletters, announcements, major
company milestones/events, and town halls. -
- Manages communication calendars to ensure a strong pipeline of
relevant, impactful, and timely content for press and digital
channels.
- Writes, edits, and maintains quality of select communications
content, including articles, videos, etc.
- Supports the team with preparing internal and external
presentation materials and messages.
- Become a trusted communications advisor for the function across
MTPA and other affiliated companies if necessary.
- Generates ideas and identifies key moments in time for creative
storytelling opportunities to drive engagement across key internal
and external groups.
- Partners with colleagues across MTPA and MTPC to ensure
strategic alignment and leverage the companys full resources.
- Identifies opportunities to continuously innovate
communications, make process improvements and drive
efficiencies.
- Prepares a variety of SOPs, style guides and similar documents
to ensure a cohesive and consistent communications approach across
functions and affiliates.
- Serves as company spokesperson; also prepare and counsel
leadership team members for media interviews
- Identifies and tracks key performance metrics to report on
results, impacts, and effectiveness.
- Oversee and monitor owned/shared media; ensure proper use of
website/social media channels.
- Manage external service providers, agencies, and consultants
and their budgets to ensure effectiveness, cost-efficiency, and
results achieved.
- Effectively interface / liaison with external constituents
including but not limited to industry associations, regulators,
health care providers, patients, caregivers, consultants, service
providers, advocacy groups, legislators, lobbyists, presses, news
outlets, public media, influencers, etc.
- Participate, interact, and support PMRC, as
neededQualifications
- Bachelor's degree required in relevant field of study, Masters
degree, preferred.
- 10+ years of relevant experience, preferably in life science or
similarly regulated industry
- Proven experience in strategic communications that drive
business impact.
- Experience with organizational communications as well as
product communications, crisis communications, and digital
communications including social media.
- 5 years experience with effectively managing a team and
managing many external agencies, consultants, freelancers, and
service providers and the complexity of their inter-working
relationships.
- Understanding of pharmaceutical, commercial, manufacturing and
regulatory environment.
- Strong project management and organizational skills with
ability to prioritize and be accountable for multiple projects at
once, excellent problem-solving skills.
- Talented storyteller with the ability to identify and tell
compelling, impactful stories.
- Excellent writing skills and ability to simplify complex
subjects, strong attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of
employees, including senior management, as well as external
audiences. Exceptional public speaking skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal and cross-cultural skills and ability
to build effective working relationships; must be able to work
closely with executives.
- Experience working in fast-paced, matrixed, and
highly-collaborative environments with minimal supervision.
- Team player who is self-motivated, entrepreneurial, effective
under pressure and flexible.
- High level of independence, energy and integrity; demonstrates
respect for a diversity of opinions.
- Sound judgement and proven ability to deal with sensitive
and/or confidential matters.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (including Word, PowerPoint, and
Excel)
- Strong knowledge of graphics design technologies (e.g. Adobe
Creative Cloud)
- Proficiency and/or interest in video creation and editing
preferred
- Knowledge of basic SharePoint and intranet technology
- Strong budget management skills
- Must be able to travel 10% domestically and internationally

based on hire date. -The salary range for this position is $155,000
- $264,000. Factors such as scope and responsibilities of the
position, candidate's work experience, education/training,
job-related skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and
business considerations may influence base pay offered. This salary
may be subject to a geographic adjustment (according to a specific
city and state and depending on the role), if an authorization is
granted to work outside of the location listed in this posting.

Incentive (STI) program. - Specific information about the plan
