Job Description:
Leads teams in re-engineering technology from legacy mainframe
to Cloud technology -- moving to Amazon Web Services. Ensures
chapter composition aligns with business needs, including the
workforce planning necessary to deliver value and results for
clients and the business. Assigns and reviews work streams across
teams, ensuring employees have an understanding of the Software
Development Lifecycle (SDLC), the required level of database
skills, and are proficient in Angular skills for User Interface
development. Primary Responsibilities: Participates in design discussions, ensuring there is synergy
across all teams. Identifies proficiency, expertise, and resource gaps. Recruits, trains, and hires subordinate employees. Identifies coaching needs and provides expertise in automation
testing -- regression, unit, and integration testing. Ensures all squad members abide by Agile principals and follow
the SDLC in an Agile methodology. Communicates directions to team members, revolving the testing
tools to be used, or the design aspects and reuse of capabilities,
and ensures the team is in alignment with the strategy of the
firm. Measures performance through established Key Performance
Indicators (KPI) and delivers agreed upon business, technology, and
people results. Develops code with a unit testing coverage of more than 85%. Allocates chapter members across squads to ensure best
utilization of talent while also creating appropriate learning
opportunities. Sets and enforces standards and ensures the work performed is
aligned with established road maps. Facilitates project, sprint, and release planning, backlog
creation, story estimation, daily scrums, sprint reviews, and
retrospectives for the development of the next generation corporate
action processing systems that modernize existing mainframe systems
according to Scrum methodologies. Collaborates and removes impediments to ensure projects are
delivered on time and on budget. Oversees alignment with the overarching goal of the business
unit. Directs daily operations of departments, analyzes workflows,
establishes priorities, develops standards, and sets deadlines. Oversee projects and implements the latest software versions for
each product, eliminating the risk of running an unapproved,
unlicensed version of the software. Meets with department heads, managers, supervisors, and vendors,
to solicit cooperation and resolve problems. Reviews the progress of the projects and increases efficiency
wherever possible in the goal of adding and delivering value. Prepares and reviews operational reports or project progress
reports. Plans and leads organization wide initiatives. Education and Experience: Bachelors degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer
Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems,
Mathematics, Physics, Management, or a closely related field and
six (6) years of experience in the job offered or six (6) years of
experience designing, implementing, and project managing
information technology solutions and implementations within a
financial services operations and product development
environment. Or, alternatively, Masters degree (or foreign education
equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information
Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, Management,
or a closely related field and four (4) years of experience in the
job offered or four (4) years of experience designing,
implementing, and project managing information technology solutions
and implementations within a financial services operations and
product development environment. Skills and Knowledge: Candidate must also possess: Demonstrated Expertise (DE) managing the delivery of systems
functionality, using JIRA and Agile tools; managing the migration
of complex applications from mainframe to next-generation
technology, using Java Webservices, Oracle database, Cloud
services, and Event Driven Processes; developing technology
roadmaps, and strategy and system enhancements to support business
processes; and leading a team in the development of Web service
tools, using Git, Sprint Tool Suite, Oracle development tool,
Jenkins, Stash, and Postman. DE facilitating project, sprint, and release planning, backlog
creation, story estimation, daily scrums, sprint reviews, and
retrospectives for the development of next generation corporate
action processing systems that modernize existing mainframe systems
according to Scrum methodologies; creating a next generation
booking system for policy booking mainframe batch processes to be
reengineered into real time Web services for legacy producer
licensing systems to be reengineered into Web UIs that use RESTful
services in American International Group, Inc. (AIG), using
Microsoft (Project Planner, Visio, and Excel) and Atlassian (JIRA)
tools. DE executing all phases of the systems development project
lifecycle -- requirements analysis through implementation,
including developing and maintaining project plans, and performing
data modeling, mapping, analysis, and migration between databases,
including legacy corporate action dividend, voluntary, and asset
services databases -- using Jira and Confluence according to Agile
and Scrum methodologies. DE managing an engineering team -- recruiting, hiring, and
retaining staff, identifying skill gaps, and providing individual
and team mentorship -- to accommodate product needs, technical
