Assists with the development of patient care standards, orientation and continuing education. Provides input into evaluation of staff performance in accordance with organization policies. Participates in nursing Quality Improvement. (S)He has the expertise in nursing professional development, education, and/or a specific area of nursing practice. (S)He is a member of the Nursing Leadership team and supports the Organization s Mission and Vision and actively participates in the shared governance process. (S)He is responsible and accountable for the development and application of the Standards of Care with Jersey City Medical Center, in an effort to enhance the quality of care provided to patients and families. The primary function is that of an educator, practitioner, consultant and change agent. Assesses data relevant to the learner s progress, and interpret the appropriate information necessary to develop group and individual learning plans. Assists with unit administration, including scheduling,payroll and maintenance of supplies and equipment. Maintains and role models clinical skills necessary to provide care to patients.Uses an understanding of the principles of growth and development to assess each patient s age specific needs and provide age specific treatment and care. (S)He is a clinical expert with abilities to foster the clinical development of the staff that she/he guides. This individual will be responsible to assess the educational needs of the staff on an on-going basis and to serve as a resource/coach for the nursing staff, educators, APNs, Management, and other healthcare providers.Ensure that [unit/department/division] is in compliance with all applicable policies, laws and regulations.Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in New Jersey. Bachelor of Science in nursing required, MSN preferred. Successful completion of all Orientation Programs. In addition to the aforementioned skills, the Education Support Specialist must possess clinical experience, training, and education aligned with their specialty practice area of focus.Special Equipment/SkillsExcellent communication and interpersonal skills. Organizational ability, nurse management and leadership skills. Demonstrated clinical expertise in area standards.
