DescriptionThe role of the Professional Registered Nurse is to
provide quality nursing care in collaboration with the medical
staff and within the guidelines of the New Jersey State Nurse
Practice Act. It is the responsibility of the Professional Nurse to
implement the Hospital's Mission and goals through established
policies, procedures and performance improvement activities.
Implementation of these goals occurs through organization and
administration of individualized age specific professional nursing
care to patients within an assigned unit of the hospital. The
understanding of the principles of growth and development will be
incorporated to assess each patient's age specific needs and
determine age specific treatment modalities.Additional
RequirementsTo qualify you must have a current RN License in NJ, a
BSN BLS Heart Saver/Heath Care Provider Certification credentials
ACLS. Minimum 1 year of hospital experience, Excellent Customer
Service and Communication Skills. RN s are required to work every
other weekend. Additional certifications may be required.
Additional experience / training may be required based on
departmental specific needs Successful completion of all
orientation programs. Implements the policies and procedures of the
hospital and Nursing Department. Utilizes the nursing process with
a multidisciplinary approach in the delivery of patient care.
Performs all other duties as assigned. Performs assessment and
reassessment of patients according to applicable department
standards and identified tools. Assists with the precepting of new
employees. Initiates/develops/revises multidisciplinary plan of
care and initiates discharge planning and teaching in accordance
with department standards and using appropriate tools. Performs
interventions in accordance with current policy and procedures,
safety guidelines and infectious disease principles. Provides
patient/family education according to the plan of care and
documents same. Communicates pertinent patient information to
appropriate individual (i.e., MD, supervisor, discharge planner,
etc.). Complies with unit and departmental scheduling guidelines.
Provides hand-off communication to next level of care and relief
personnel. Ensures patient s environment is orderly and all excess
equipment is removed. Sends patients belongings to security as
appropriate. Answers telephone/ intercom in a polite manner and
communicates information to appropriate personnel / family.
Promotes the professional image of nursing through community
activities (hospital committees, civic organizations, parish
nursing, volunteerism, etc.). Evaluates the effectiveness of
interventions and revises plan of care accordingly. Observes the
patient for ECG changes including arrhythmias, signs, and symptoms
of cardiac, respiratory, neuroligic, renal, peripheral vascular
compromise. Records, interprets, communicates, and accurately
documents hemodynamic data, physiologic data, and vital signs data
acquired during any procedures included in the diagnostic
catherization, interventional, electrophysiology, pacemaker and ICD
services; recognizes deviations from normal acceptable ranges and
communicates same properly. Demonstrates the ability to perform
therapeutic treatments or administer medications as orders using
appropriate techniques, policies, or procedures, also demonstrates
ability to observe and accurately document response of intervention
in medical record and reassess needs. Assesses, plans, implements
and evaluates the physican needs of the patient including but not
limited to comfort, proper alignment of body; turning of the
patient; lifting of the patient's legs or torso; lifting or
assisting the patient to move onto the stretcher , procedure table,
or clinical unit bed with assistance from other staff members.We
