The Ayer Neuroscience Institute at Hartford HealthCare has a new opportunity available for a Per Diem Neurosurgery Physician Assistant/APRN to join our Advanced Practice team at Hartford Hospital located in Hartford, CT. Practice autonomously, but collaboratively, with a team of attending neurosurgeons and APPs providing advanced specialized care to neurosurgical patients including open spine, MIS spine and deformity, intracranial cases, neurovascular, peripheral nerve, neurotrauma, and neuro-interventional radiological cases. This role will assist in providing coverage on the inpatient side of neurosurgery including weekdays (day & night shifts), weekends (day & night shifts), and/or holidays to contribute to maintaining 24/7 service coverage. Job details : · Managing neurosurgical brain and spine patients on the floor, stepdown, and ICU settings. · Intake H&Ps, progress notes, consultations, pre- and post-operative care, and discharges. · Providing neurosurgical consultations in the hospital and in the emergency department. · Performing bedside procedures: external ventricular drains, ICP monitors, lumbar drains, shunt taps. · First assisting the attending neurosurgeon in the operating room in brain and spine surgeries. · Per diem coverage of weekdays, weeknights, weekend days, weekend nights, and holidays based on neurosurgery service line coverage needs. Qualifications Job requirements: A minimum of 1 year of experience in a surgical subspeciality is strongly preferred. BE/BC NCCPA certified and CT licensed Physician Assistant or APRN with First Assist. This role will assist in providing 24/7 coverage on the inpatient side of neurosurgery including weekdays (day & night shifts), weekends (day & night shifts), and/or holidays on a per diem basis based on neurosurgery service line needs.
