Job Title: CT Scan Technologist Profession: CT Scan Technologist
Specialty: - Duration: 11 months Shift: Monday - Friday, every
other weekend Hours per Shift: 8 hours (3pm - 11:30pm) or 10 hours
(1pm - 11:30pm) Experience: Minimum of 2 years of CT experience on
Siemens Equipment License: NJ DEP Diagnostic Radiography License
Certifications: ARRT Certified R.T.(R) license, American Heart
Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification Must-Have:
Knowledge of anatomy and physiology and radiological positioning of
the human body. Understanding mechanical attributes of CT software
and hardware. Thorough knowledge of PACS system. Maintains CEU
Credits. Team members must achieve ARRT (CT) certification within
twelve months following hire date. American Heart Association Basic
Life Support (BLS) Certification within three months of hire date.
Description: The CT Scan Technologist performs computed tomography
procedures and related techniques. Produces sectional and
three-dimensional images for interpretation. Assists with
interventional and therapeutic procedures. Performs complex CT
procedures. Uses professional judgment when reviewing and obtaining
patient clinical history for procedures. Ensures information is
documented and scanned into the system. Prepares, screens, and
reviews the accuracy of the contrast questionnaire with the patient
or family member. Identifies and/or administers contrast media
related to CT exams as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
Reviews the patient prescription to verify appropriateness of the
exam. Communicates with the Radiologist and Referring Physician to
obtain additional clinical information or a new prescription if
incorrect. Calls physicians to clarify the prescription in
accordance with appropriate CT protocols. Verifies insurance
authorized exam script and sends exam modification forms for
insurance re-verification. Obtains outside studies and schedules
them so the CD and reports are available for comparison by
Radiologists. Provides exam copies to the patient and requesting
physician or family member. Evaluates radiographs to ensure
radiographs contain proper identification and are of diagnostic
value. Uses consistent and appropriate techniques to gather
relevant information from the medical record and health care
providers. Determines whether the patient has been appropriately
prepared for the procedure. Prepares the patient for scanning,
including shielding and immobilization devices. Determines
appropriate type and dose of contrast to be administered. Provides
accurate explanations and instructions at any appropriate time
tailored to the patient's level of understanding. Addresses and
documents patient questions and concerns regarding the procedure.
Performs venipuncture, IV patency, and maintenance procedures
according to established guidelines. Monitors the patient’s
physical condition for any adverse reactions during the procedure.
Responsible for scheduled shifts including holidays and weekends.
Adheres to the policy of Employee ID, Standards of Behavior,
Attendance, and Punctuality. Lifts a minimum of 25 lbs., pushes and
pulls a minimum of 50 lbs., and stands a minimum of 6 hours a day.
Identifies the needs of the patient population served and modifies
and delivers care accordingly. Communicates with the patient,
parent, and/or primary caregiver(s) at their level of
understanding. Adheres to the standards identified in the
organization’s competencies and standards of behavior.
