Associate Director, Business Development to help us expand what’s
possible for patients with serious diseases. Reporting to the
Director, Business Development, the Associate Director, Business
Development will lead competitive intelligence and commercial
evaluation activities in support of business development
opportunities, including licensing, acquisitions, and strategic
transactions. This role partners closely with the VP of Business
Development and cross-functional stakeholders to shape investment
decisions, inform deal strategy, and support commercial diligence
through rigorous forecasting, market analysis, and competitive
insights. What You'll Do: In this role, you’ll have the opportunity
to serve as a core competitive intelligence lead on BD diligence
and transaction processes, supporting development of integrated
business cases. You’ll also: Lead commercial assessments for
external opportunities, including market sizing, revenue
forecasting, pricing and access assumptions, launch dynamics, and
lifecycle considerations. Develop and maintain competitive
intelligence frameworks, continuously monitoring competitor
pipelines, deal activity, clinical data, and industry trends that
may impact asset valuation or strategic fit. Analyze market trends,
industry dynamics, and competitive landscapes to identify growth
opportunities and risks across therapeutic areas of interest. Build
and own commercial forecast models and scenario analyses to support
valuation, sensitivity testing, and portfolio prioritization.
Prepare high-quality written summaries and executive-level
presentations translating complex commercial and competitive
analyses into clear strategic recommendations. Co-lead primary and
secondary market research to inform BD decision-making, working
closely with internal commercial and market access SMEs. Maintain
databases of BD opportunities, competitive landscapes, and
historical diligence outputs to support institutional knowledge and
trend analysis. Foster strong cross-functional collaboration with
Commercial, Market Access, Sales, Research, Clinical, Finance, and
Legal partners throughout diligence and deal execution. Establish
and leverage internal and external networks to enhance market
intelligence and identify emerging business development
opportunities. Represent the BD function at external partnering
meetings and life sciences conferences. Who You Are: You must have
a Bachelor’s degree, 5 years of relevant industry experience and 2
years of business experience in pharma/biotech, preferably within
business development, commercial strategy, competitive
intelligence, or related functions. Additionally, you have:
Demonstrated experience in competitive intelligence, commercial
evaluation, and business case development for external
opportunities. Advanced expertise in commercial forecasting,
financial modeling, and use of epidemiology data to support market
sizing, valuation, and indication prioritization. Strong
understanding of drug development, disease areas, and end-to-end
commercial processes including pricing, reimbursement, and launch
planning. Proven ability to operate effectively in a matrixed
environment and influence without direct authority. Experience
partnering with internal commercial and functional SMEs to
synthesize diligence findings and drive decision-making. Strong
executive communication skills, with demonstrated ability to
present recommendations to senior leadership. High level of
analytical rigor, attention to detail, and strategic judgment. Nice
to have (but not required): Degree focused on Biology, Cell
Biology, Neurology, Immunology, or other related discipline
preferred. Where You’ll Work This can be a fully remote role
because the selected candidate should be able to perform
effectively from anywhere while staying connected to your Insmed
team and community. Occasional travel for team meetings or events
will be expected. Alternatively, if you live within a drivable
distance of our Bridgewater, NJ facilities, you’ll have the option
to work remotely most of the time, but with more in-person
collaboration when it matters most. Travel Requirements This role
requires occasional domestic travel (approximately 10-20%). LI-MM1
