for New York Staff will deliver effective programs with compassion,

we provide hope to those who participate in our programs. Program
Assistant TSINY, a non-profit mental health services agency seeks a
Behavioral Specialist in Queens Village (Queens County), NY.
Salary: $67,408 annually, $37.03/Hr. Position Summary The
Behavioral Specialist is responsible for developing Positive
Behavior Support Plans that apply behavior analysis and systems
change perspectives within the context of behaviors, such as
self-injury, aggression, property destruction, defiance and
disruption. Essential Functions Develop Positive Behavior Support
Plans for the Apartment Program and other residential programs as
needed. Train staff on how to complete data sheets and follow
behavior plans. Meet with staff regularly to review completed data
sheets and behavior plan implementation. Provide training to staff
on how to implement behavior plan. Review behavior plans quarterly
to determine effectiveness. Meet with supervisor regularly to
review, edit and modify plans as needed. Assist with coverage when
necessary. Conduct positive reinforcement meeting weekly.
Communicate the outcome of all positive reinforcement meetings in
supervision. Complete contact logs regularly when visiting clients.
Work with clients as needed. Consult with other professionals, such
as psychiatrist, therapist, etc. Provide input into development and
implementation of Agency policies and procedures regarding positive
behavior supports. Be able to sit or stand as needed, with or
without reasonable accommodation. May require walking, primarily on
a level surface, for short periods throughout the day, with or
without reasonable accommodation. Be able to reach above shoulder
heights, below the waist or lift as required to file documents or
store materials throughout the workday, with or without reasonable
accommodation. Driver’s license required. During a declared
disaster, assume and adhere to assigned Job Action role(s)
consistent with Disaster Preparedness Plan. Perform other related
duties as required. Experience/Education/Skills/Abilities Master’s
Degree in Psychology or related discipline plus one year’s
experience in providing behavioral interventions or Bachelor’s
Degree in Psychology or related discipline plus three years’
experience in providing behavioral interventions. The ideal
candidate will: have knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)
theory and practices, be detail oriented, be able to work
independently and take initiative, have the ability to multi-task
and meet deadlines, possess effective oral and written
communication skills, have the ability to interact effectively with
all levels of employee, as well as external, contacts, be able to
handle confidential and sensitive information, be proficient with
basic office equipment, such as telephones, copies, fax machines,
printers, PCs, require manual dexterity for the use of a computer,
telephone, fax or copy machine, be able to sit in meetings for long
periods of time, be able to work effectively using program
management and other tools on a personal computer for long periods
of time, possess ability to read and interpret documents, such as
safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure
manuals, be able to write professional reports and correspondence.
