Paris-based SUEZ. Who are we looking for? Education/Equivalent:
A NJ DEP T-4 and/or W-4 is required; any additional NJ
water/wastewaterlicenses preferred. Will consider T-3/W-3 if able
to obtain T-4/W-4within 12 months
Professional Engineer License preferred.
Bachelor's degree in Business, Science, Civil, Environmental, or
SanitaryEngineering required. Equivalent experience in related
fields with strongunderstanding of local governments and
contracting of local servicesacceptable.--
Master's Degree in Engineering or MBA, strongly preferred.
Formal training in the development, deployment, and use of
Management Control& Reporting Systems (MCRS)
Valid driver's license in state of residence is required and must
meet riskmanagement guidelines.
Work Experience Needed:
Minimum of 7-10 years supervisory experience in public water
supplyoperations.--
Special Skills/Abilities Needed:
Familiarity and adherence to all environmental and safety
complianceregulations.
Excellent skills in leadership, team building, internal &
externalcommunications, change management, and training and
mentoring of projectmanagers and supervisors.
Strong skills in preparing proposals, bid and/or contract
amendments forgovernmental agencies, with an emphasis on public
works.
Strong experience in managing contracts including negotiations,
resolvingconflicts and preparing and negotiating change orders.
Ability to develop and submit complex proposals for municipal and
governmentorganizations.
Ability to develop and implement a project level and division level
StrategicVision and plan.
Strong skills in working with local elected officials to develop
new business,negotiate contracts, prepare capital plans, and manage
regulatoryreviews.
Working knowledge of water treatment methods, distribution system
operationsand maintenance, utility accounting systems and
procedures, and engineeringprinciples as related to water treatment
and distributionfacilities.
Short and long term planning skills.
Strong financial acumen with ability to review and recommend annual
budgets andreport variances
Strong interpersonal skills to effectively relate and interact with
electedofficials, regulators, and media.
Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel, Word,
Outlook andPowerPoint.
What will you be doing? Summary:
This position is responsible for working with the operations
staffto provide quality water and wastewater services to assigned
municipalitiesunder a long-term service contract. Project delivery
must be accomplished inaccordance with Suez's commitment to
Superior Client/Customer Service,motivated and trained employees
and business efficiency. The position isresponsible for full
compliance with contractual responsibilities, safety
andenvironmental compliance goals using the full resources of the
company toachieve superior client/customer loyalty and build
long-term relationship.Incumbent will coordinate and leverage the
efforts of Suez's support functions- Technical Services, Finance &
Due Diligence, Legal, Human Resources andOperations Management
during the project delivery.
Nature & Scope-Principal Areas of Responsibilities:
The Area Manager is responsible for direction of the Projects to
provide highquality water and/or wastewater treatment and
collection system services to theClient, under a long-term service
contract. To accomplish this goal, theincumbent provides guidance,
assistance and direction to his/her reports.
Supervises and participates in the preparation andadministration of
strategic plans, systems plans, capital plans, marketingplans,
operating plans and revises plans as needed.
Administers corporate, local and state rules and regulations,which
govern operations, water quality, service, safety, etc. The Area
Manager develops and maintains sound regulatory, governmental,
media,community, customer and employee relations programs.
Responsible for insuring that adequate water service is provided
meeting allrequirements of the Client on a day to day basis
including the Safe DrinkingWater Act requirements.
Through his/her Leadership Team, trains and developsemployees to
assure each employee has the necessary skill sets to
accomplishhis/her responsibilities.--
Provides client relations including presentations of progress and
specialreports, participates in client meetings, conducts client
service auditinterviews and professional handling and resolution of
client servicesconcerns, contract interpretation and modification
and/or renewal activities.
Aggressively supervises project staff to ensure work is performed
in a safe andprofessional manner by following established safety,
operating and emergencyresponse procedures.
Ensures uniform monitoring and record keeping are performed.
Ensures that safety, process control and maintenance management
programs andsystems are consistently implemented by subordinates
and that each site followsestablished administrative and
maintenance policies and procedures.--
Manages and directs all activities related to Technical Services
within the scopeof his/her reporting structure.
Manages the establishment of procedures for maintaining high
standards ofoperation, product quality, reliability and safety.
Determine and enforce,through direct and functional report groups,
productivity, quality and safetyrequirements in accordance with
company need, based on current local, state andfederal regulations.
Evaluate and develop improved techniques for the controlof
operations, quality, reliability and safety.
Supports and assists as necessary the development and maintenance
of soundregulatory, governmental, media, community, customer and
employee relationsprograms.
Through his/her Leadership Team, trains and develops employees to
assure eachemployee has the necessary skill sets to accomplish
his/herresponsibilities.
Promotes morale and provides staff with atmosphere of open
communication,innovation and job growth.
