Job Description:


This job performs all aspects of compensation operations (as described below), data analysis, technical research and project support for the Compensation & Rewards team for SMBC and its Group Companies.


* Year-end / Off-cycle Reviews:Supports the research, development, maintenance and administration of programs, policies and practices associated with SMBC's formal reviews, including: the year-end promotions, salary and bonus review; applicable off-cycle compensation reviews for SMBC's Group Companies; the development of tools in support of applicable review processes (i.e., salary ranges, merit grids, promotion guidelines, ad-hoc reports, etc.); and preparing and maintaining the library of year-end reports.
* Market Benchmarking:Performs key aspects of the market benchmarking annual planning cycle, including: daily market-based job pricing in support of job requisition requests submitted by hiring managers; SMBC data collection and submission for selected market surveys (i.e., McLagan Surveys); preparation of market data results via summaries for business manager review; preparation of analyses (macro and targeted) using available market data.
* Works with HR Business Partners, Recruiting and other HR colleagues to deliver a coordinated HR function solution when making offers to candidadates, pricing of requisitions, off-cycle activity, mobility, etc.
* Data Management/Reporting:Supports compensation function (planning and operations) by developing and maintaining due diligence reporting: special payments, data cleaning, error-checking, audit-readiness
* HRIS data entry is expected.


* Proficient math and analytical skills required.
* HRIS experience required. SAP Success Factors preferable.
* Full proficiency of the Microsoft Office suite required - expert-level skills in Excel preferred (i.e., Excel power-user); working knowledge Lotus Notes and Oracle databases preferred.
* Proficiency in reporting tools, Power BI, Tableau a plus.
* Proficiency in verbal, written and presentation communication skills.
* Demonstrates a highly-organized approach to processes and developing repeatable outcomes from available technology tools.
* Expert analytical and problem-solving skills; able to conceptualize a data challenges and forge possible solutions/repeatable outputs.
* Demonstrates the highest standards of ethics, integrity, honesty, diversity, and discretion.
* Broad knowledge of SMBC's businesses is a definite plus.
* BA/BS Degree
* 2-5 years of specialized experience in Financial Services
* Compensation work experience in a financial services setting preferred but not required. Knowledge of basic HR processes, core compensation principles/practices, and overall solid business acumen is required.
* Expert in Microsoft Excel
