Fidelity Investments Core Brokerage Technology Domain is seeking an experienced Principal Software Engineer to join our technology team and work with Trade Processing Tribe in modernizing legacy mainframe applications. The Trade Processing Tribe is part of the Core Brokerage Platform Domain. This tribe is playing critical role in building Next Generation (NextGen) brokerage platform, a new platform for brokerage capabilities. The Tribe is responsible for straight through, real time processing of trades including distribution of trades to downstream post-trade processing applications. The Tribe is also working on various other modernization effort on Block Trade Allocation, Balancing Engine etc. The Tribe supports all lines of business across Retail and Institutional businesses.
- The Expertise You Have

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or Equivalent.
  • You have the expertise and experience in designing sophisticated network of microservices which can handle high TPS traffic with low latency. This experience is essential as the microservices the team will be building, process millions of transactions daily for a mission-critical application.
  • You are experienced with a variety of modern programming languages and frameworks. 8+ years of experience working with Java, Oracle, Kubernetes, Rancher, AWS is encouraged for this role.
  • You have a passion for technology and can navigate your way across sophisticated and rapidly changing landscapes by staying on top of the latest trends and thrive by sharing knowledge.
  • Hands-on experience leading or mentoring scrum teams passionate about building software solutions for business critical, architecturally distributed experiences. The teams you have worked with have multi-functional responsibilities such as engineering, quality, DevOps and release implementation.
  • Creator, doer, and disruptor who will help us tackle problems and meet customer needs. You'll be helping us build solutions by taking an idea, and creating rapid prototypes, learning from real-time feedback.
  • You care about cycle time and use CI/CD practices, tools to rapidly deploy changes to production while minimizing risk.
  • Have strong communication skills and technical expertise to drive and participate in significant discussions with partners across business roles and skillsets.
    - The Skills You Bring
    • Experience in Java, Spring, API (REST), messaging frameworks
    • Proven experience in container-based development (Docker)
    • Confirmed experience in Hibernate ORM/JDBC/Connection Pooling
    • Keen experience working with EDA solutions such as Kafka/ MQ/ AWS SNS
    • Experience in implementing Micro services Architecture & building / deploying highly automated, scalable and maintainable infrastructure.
    • Validated experience in designing and developing apps with high throughput and low latency utilizing load balancing, caching, threading etc. Experience with Aerospike and Redis are highly desired.
    • Proven experience working with cloud computing strategies and architecture (Kubernetes, Amazon EKS etc.)
    • Knowledge on CD process and tools, testing frameworks and practices (GitHub, Jenkins, uDeploy, Stash)
    • Experience with Oracle, DB2, SQL is highly desired.
    • Strategic thinking and critical problem-solving skills
