Multifamily Construction Job Overview Malas Development is seeking
a highly organized and proactive Project Engineer / Assistant
Project Manager to take charge of project controls and
preconstruction workflows on a major 248-unit ground-up multifamily
development. This on-site role is a high-visibility, high-impact
opportunity that will put you at the heart of the action—managing
Procore systems, driving procurement processes, and keeping key
project documentation sharp and current. You’ll work directly with
company ownership and collaborate closely with superintendents in
the field. This is the ideal opportunity for a rising construction
professional with strong admin, precon, and project tracking skills
who wants to help build something big—while building their own
career. Who We Are Malas Development is a fully integrated owner,
developer, and general contractor focused on high-quality
multifamily and mixed-use projects. As a fast-growing company with
a lean and agile structure, we eliminate bureaucracy and empower
our people with direct access to decision-makers. We’re builders at
heart—pragmatic, professional, and committed to long-term quality.
Every project is a team effort, and every teammate matters. Key
Responsibilities Preconstruction & Procurement Prepare and manage
bid packages: scopes, invites, addenda, and vendor outreach. Level
bids: assess inclusions/exclusions, clarify alternates, and
validate pricing. Perform light quantity takeoffs to assist
estimating. Follow up with vendors to meet bid deadlines and
maintain engagement. Assist with subcontract preparation: scopes,
exhibits, insurance, and compliance. Procore Management Own daily
activity in Procore, including RFIs, submittals, drawings, and
meeting minutes. Ensure all logs are current and accurate—your
organization keeps the job on track. Manage drawing/spec uploads
and version control—no one builds off old plans. Maintain action
item trackers and close out open items consistently. Scheduling &
Coordination Maintain short-term schedule updates (weekly
look-aheads, constraints log). Coordinate with field teams and
trades to align sequencing and identify risks. Follow up weekly on
RFIs, submittals, long-lead items, and unresolved issues. Change
Management & Pay Apps (Support Role) Collect lien waivers, COIs,
backup documentation, and pay app paperwork. Support change
tracking and pricing documentation. Organize monthly payment and
change order submissions for smooth processing. Qualifications 2–6
years of experience in commercial construction (GC, developer, or
builder). Strong command of Procore – submittals, RFIs, specs,
drawing uploads, logs, and documentation. Proven preconstruction
experience – bid scopes, vendor coordination, and follow-ups.
Familiar with AIA pay apps and scheduling tools (Microsoft Project
preferred). Detail-oriented, highly organized, and excellent
written communication skills. Bonus Points For Ground-up
multifamily construction experience (wood frame, podium, concrete).
Proficiency in Bluebeam and Excel for tracking takeoffs and
subcontractor bids. Experience prepping subcontract scopes,
exhibits, and managing insurance compliance. What Success Looks
Like (First 60–90 Days) Procore systems are fully dialed in—logs
are current and driving accountability. Clean, accurate bid
packages are out, tracked, and leveled with complete scopes. Weekly
coordination rhythms (look-aheads, RFIs, constraints) are
consistent and reliable. Ownership is freed up from
paperwork—because you’ve got the admin locked down. Benefits
Competitive base salary: $120,000–$150,000 depending on experience.
Performance-based bonus potential. Bi-weekly pay cycle. Medical
insurance coverage. Paid time off, including vacation, sick days,
and holidays. Direct access to ownership—no red tape. High-impact
role with real growth opportunities as the company scales. Schedule
Full-Time – Monday to Friday Weekend availability as needed
