What is the opportunity?
The purpose of the Business and Client Services (BCS) Risk &
Controls team is to establish a robust control environment and
strong risk management culture. Maintaining a proactive control
approach assists in achieving strategic objectives, promotes
efficiency, reduces the risk of loss and helps ensure compliance
with corporate policies and regulations. In addition, properly
functioning internal controls enable the firm to deal with today's
rapidly changing environment and prepare for future growth. A
successful Associate is knowledgeable of the day to day control
activities across CM BCS and acts as an effective layer of
escalation for junior or less experienced staff on complex issues.
The Associate should be able to develop and implement ideas for
process improvement, control enhancements, and risk reporting while
also taking the lead on strategic projects and global initiatives.
Additionally, having a demonstrated ability to analyze control
effectiveness, a strong understanding of risk assessment and
reporting standards, and a proven ability to build and maintain
strong working relationships with stakeholders across CM Business
Management, BCS and Technology will be necessary for success.
What will you do?
- Partner with line managers and control team to manage and
govern the US Risk & Control framework to ensure risks are
proactively identified, measured, monitored, and escalated
- Manage key aspects of the Risk and Control Assessment Program
(RCAP) by facilitating walkthroughs of controls, reviewing
processes and procedures, and assessing control effectiveness*.
- Work with control team members to identify control deficiencies
and proactively manage, where appropriate, the remediation of
deficiencies across all business and support areas impacted*.
- Supervise the day-to-day reporting of key risk indicators
(KRIs) as well as the development and distribution of risk
management packs, control packs, and risk reports to internal /
external stakeholders and BCS senior management*. (10%)
- Carry out the implementation of various initiatives, including
but not limited to audit action plans, issue remediation and
development of risk metric dashboards. (10%)
- Ensure project deliverables are completed on time by following
up with tasks owners and escalating as needed. (10%)
- Contribute to and participate in various strategic working
group (SWG) initiatives including but not limited to learning and
development, citizenship and diversity. (5%)
What do you need to succeed?
- Bachelor degree or equivalent preferably with emphasis in
Business, Accounting, Finance, or Economics. Or strong extended
experience in equivalent role.
- 3-5 years' experience in US Capital Markets Broker / Dealer
- Ability to collaborate with team members to review businesses,
products and functional areas to identify key risks and synergy
Nice To Have
- Medium to High proficiency level across Microsoft suite of
products: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio.
