Job Description:
Our client, a banking company, is seeking a Senior Business
Analyst / Project Lead MSS Ops
Location: Jersey City, NJ
Position Type: Contract
Summary:
Market Operations
Markets and Securities Services Operations has undertaken a large
strategic programme of work that is due to complete in 2025. The
programme covers predominantly change the bank activities however
dovetails into market mandated change and regulatory change.
To this end and to support the Americas change portfolio we require
a senior BA / project lead to join the change team to take
responsibility of several key items within the region, both
regionally and as part of Global change.
The role will require the analysis of data, the capture of business
requirements and/or user stories and the forming of business cases
to support the regional change agenda and as an enabler for new
change opportunities.
The successful candidate will be required to act independently and
with flexibility; multi-tasking but still ensuring strong attention
to detail, in line with HSBC project and control standards.
Job Responsibilities:
Ensuring that all analysis is performed to a high standard and in
accordance with HSBC project governance principles
Engaging with all internal project stakeholders to ensure
requirements are met cost effectively while safeguarding ongoing
investment into strategic vendor solutions.
Ensuring that all project documentation is produced to the highest
quality, on time and with appropriate sign-offs obtained.
Working closely with colleagues in BAU Operations, Technology and
the Business to ensure that processes are implemented appropriately
& in accordance with stakeholder expectations and regulatory /
compliance protocols.
Principal Accountabilities:
Impact on the Business
Project lead and ownership of key strategic project including all
documentation, testing, post implementation review and stakeholder
sign off
BA responsibilities - production of business analysis
documentation, liaison with Subject Matter Experts to define
current and planned business flows, prioritization of developments
and liaison with multiple stakeholders
Customers / Stakeholders
Global Markets Business - Americas regional business leads & COO
community.
Global Markets Operations - Americas regional ExCo.
Internal IT and external vendors.
Leadership & Teamwork
To work effectively within the global change team and build
effective relationships with the Ops Line team, trading and IT
counterparts
Ability to work with staff at all levels; to work with SMEs but
also present to Senior Management
Support the relationship with key vendors to ensure effective
delivery
Operational Effectiveness & Control
Strong relationship building skills - to build and maintain
effective relationships with both internal stakeholders and
external vendors
Ability to own and deliver projects from inception to post-delivery
review.
Global perspective
Strong Change management skills gained through at least 5 years
dedicated change experience preferably in a similar environment
Good understanding of regulatory and commercial environment
Excellent communication, escalation and issue management skills
The role will need to manage projects to a pre-defined budget. All
external spend will be authorized by the Global Head of Change
Delivery or respective business programme sponsor.
The candidate needs to understand:
Large scale change within a complex operating environment
Front to back process improvement and the need for stakeholder
engagement & management
Operational risk requirements around generic practices such as
payments
Must Haves:
Strong core project skills including
Process mapping & analysis
Requirements gathering
Documentation preparation, including management of testing phase
with SMEs
Very strong investigative skills
Ideally holding a formal project qualification, for example Six
Sigma or Prince2
Strong vendor management skills
Strong commercial awareness
Global perspective
Good understanding of operational risk
Excellent relationship building skills with both internal and
external stakeholders
Very strong communication, escalation and issue management
skills.
Operations experience at a top tier broker or Investment Bank
Preferred but not essential.
Knowledge of trade life cycle for Markets.
Knowledge of CLARITY project reporting tool, inc. use of
workbench.
Education:
Any qualification within the change agenda would very useful
