Are you an experienced Casualty Claims Adjuster looking to handle some of the most complex claims in the industry? Are you a defense litigation associate looking for a career change?This position handles bodily injury and property damage claims in all 50 states for Fortune 500 companies. Your clients will be the leaders in their industry and some of the largest corporations in the world. These clams are typically premises claims (like slip and fall), products cases, and auto claims (road accidents). They can be single rear end auto accidents all the way to massive factory fires or crane accidents resulting in tens of millions of dollars in damages. This position handles claims that trigger first dollar primary Commercial General Liability policies and also excess policies with higher attachment points. You will be the person responsible for taking these claims from their initial investigation to their conclusion. You will be directly negotiating settlements with some of the best attorneys in the United States. You will be flying across the country to help direct the trial strategy. You will presenting these cases to the senior claims management at AIG. You will work with other motivated experienced claims handlers who are known as industry leaders.What you need to know:

  • This position involves determining the scope and extent of available coverage. Re-evaluate coverage as warranted.
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication with insureds, brokers and underwriters. Make regular and appropriate contact with internal and external customers. Give guidance to insured and/or broker to manage expectations.
  • Prepare and execute investigation strategies which identify critical issues effecting liability, causation and damages and consider opportunities for third-party contribution.
  • Obtain the appropriate authority to independently negotiate multi-million dollar claims with the top plaintiff attorneys nationwide. Document evaluation, thought process, and strategy. Utilize ADR as appropriate and necessary.
  • Effectively strategize and budget the litigation of each claim through discussions with counsel, vendors and insureds. Establish with defense and coverage counsel clear ground rules in order to maintain financial control of budget and expenses.
  • 25% travelWhat we're looking for:
    • 2+ years of Commercial/Industry claims experience
    • Excellent communication skills (verbal/written) and strong negotiation skills
    • Advanced experience and capabilities in litigation claims management, including ADR and mediation processes, involving auto/GL exposures
    • Experience attending and controlling cases at mediations/settlement conferences, pre suit, post suit, pre trial and post trial.
    • Motivated individuals who are interested in the potential for an upwardly mobile career path.
    • Potential for flexible work arrangement.
    • Candidates residing outside the NY/NJ area will be considered.The base salary range for this position is $64,000-$88,000 and the position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan.
