Job Description:

Responsible for delegating and overseeing the daily ocean or air import transactions. Provide and maintain effective customer service and satisfaction to clients. Assist with addressing employee s concerns or any company violations with the Freight Forwarding Manager or Supervisor.

Responsibilities:

• Delegate and assist with distributing workload amongst team members, and ensure that the work is completed accurately and efficiently
  
• Cross train staff in air and ocean
  
• Help create an onboarding manual for new hires
  
• Suggest ways on which we can improve the department and help with the implementation and execution of new procedures
  
• Create streamlined air or ocean freight forwarding processes and implement them into the everyday protocol for the team
  
• Monitor respective team emails and ensure that they are being addressed in a timely manner
  
• Follow-up on and address any issue that arise within the team
  
• Bring shipment issues to the immediate attention of the Freight Supervisor or Manager
  
• Setting up new clients with internal procedures, and ensure the clients are satisfied with our services
  
• Working closely with Supervisor and management to grow the department
  
• Assist with running the weekly staff meetings with department supervisor or management , and help to create agenda items
  
• Be a role model for company policies and procedures, explain them to staff and report any infractions to the Freight Supervisor or Manager
  Requirements
  
  • Must have a High School diploma, an Associate degree or higher is preferred
    
  • A minimum of 7 years of freight forwarding experience in the ocean or air import department
    
  • Proficient in Windows and Microsoft Office Suite, especially with Excel
    
  • Experience working with Cargowise is a plus
    
  • Pro-active attitude and strong leadership skills
    
  • Excellent time management and multi-tasking skills
    
  • Extremely detailed oriented and well organized
    
  • Must be a team player and also be able to work independently
    
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
    
  • Great customer service skills
    
  • Ability to work in a busy and fast paced environment
