Job Description:
At Insmed, every moment and every patient counts — and so does
every person who joins in. As a global biopharmaceutical company
dedicated to transforming the lives of patients with serious and
rare diseases, you’ll be part of a community that prioritizes the
human experience, celebrates curiosity, and values every person’s
contributions to meaningful progress. That commitment has earned us
recognition as Science magazine’s No. 1 Top Employer for five
consecutive years, certification as a Great Place to Work® in the
U.S., and a place on The Sunday Times Best Places to Work list in
the UK. For patients, for each other, and for the future of
science, we’re in. Are you? About the Role: We’re seeking a highly
motivated, organized, detail-oriented, collaborative, and
passionate Senior Scientist to join our multidisciplinary team
advancing therapeutics within the Immunology & Inflammation
Therapeutic Area. In this role, you will lead the development,
optimization, and validation of in vitro cell-based functional and
translational assays; design, execute, and interpret
microscopy-based experiments; and collaborate cross-functionally to
support downstream analyses from in vivo studies. What You'll Do:
Lead cell-based assay development, perform efficacy assessment
across primary and follow-up compound screens, and support
data-driven decisions for Insmed projects. Isolate and culture
primary immune cells (neutrophils, hematopoietic stem/progenitor
cells, mouse bone-marrow progenitors) and maintain common lines
(e.g., PLB985, HL-60, THP-1, RAW264.7, Jurkat cells) and other
relevant cell lines for in vitro/ex vivo assays. Plan and execute
experiments using protein-based assays (e.g., Western blotting,
ELISA, Luminex multiplex immunoassays). Perform immunofluorescence
staining in cultured cells as well as immunohistochemistry on
tissue sections. Conduct microscopy and analysis in partnership
with computational scientists, help transition to a
high-throughput, AI-driven workflow. Execute multicolor flow
cytometry across immune and non-immune cell types, and perform
high-purity FACS sorting of rare populations. Support downstream
analyses from in vivo studies, including sample collection,
processing, and ex vivo measurements. Maintain accurate, detailed,
and timely electronic records of method development, experimental
data, analyses, and summaries, and generate internal technical
reports as needed. Perform data QC and statistical analyses to
ensure accuracy, completeness, and validity, using Excel, XLfit,
GraphPad Prism, and FlowJo. Conduct critical literature reviews to
inform study design and program strategy. Ensure proper maintenance
of laboratory equipment. Present scientific results at internal and
external meetings as needed. Who You Are: PhD with 4 years of
experience in molecular and cellular biology, immunology, or a
related field. Strong foundation and proven expertise in innate
immunity, and in particular neutrophil biology, are required. Must
have hands-on experience with cell culture and standard molecular
biology assays, with deep knowledge of developing and optimizing in
vitro assays to support target validation. Must have hands-on
expertise in imaging techniques such as fluorescence microscopy,
confocal microscopy, and high-content imaging systems. Strong
hands-on experience with immunofluorescence staining and
immunohistochemistry is required. Clear, effective communication
(verbal and written) and strong problem-solving skills are
required. A high degree of organization and time management skills,
with meticulous attention to detail to ensure clarity, accuracy,
and concision, are required. A strong sense of enthusiasm,
autonomy, and self-motivation is required. Ability to work
collaboratively and efficiently in a team environment is essential.
Must successfully exhibit Insmed’s five (5) core corporate values:
Passion, Accountability, Collaboration, Integrity and Respect. Nice
to have (but not required): Experience working with downstream
sample processing from preclinical animal models is a strong plus.
Experience handling animals and/or developing or evaluating animal
models is a strong plus. Familiarity with disease areas including
respiratory, immune-mediated, and autoimmune diseases is a strong
plus. Where You’ll Work This role is based out of our Bridgewater
