Job Description:
About the Role: The Recreation Leader-Youth Leader plays a
pivotal role in fostering a safe, engaging, and inclusive
environment for young individuals to explore recreational
activities and develop social skills. The Recreation Leader-Youth
Leader will serve as a positive role model, encouraging personal
growth, responsibility, and healthy lifestyle choices among youth.
Ultimately, this position aims to enhance the overall well-being
and development of young people through structured recreational
opportunities and supportive mentorship. This position will have
flexible days Monday-Friday and the hours are 3pm-6pm. Minimum
Qualifications: Ability to communicate effectively with youth,
parents, and colleagues. Current certification in First Aid and CPR
or willingness to obtain upon hire. Preferred Qualifications:
Skills in conflict resolution and behavior management.
Responsibilities: Ensure the safety and well-being of all
participants by enforcing rules, monitoring behavior, and
maintaining a secure environment. Engage with youth to build
rapport, encourage participation, and foster a sense of community
and inclusion. Assist in the setup and cleanup of program spaces
and equipment before and after activities. Provide mentorship and
guidance to youth, supporting their social, emotional, and physical
development. Skills: The Recreation Leader-Youth Leader utilizes
strong interpersonal and communication skills daily to engage
effectively with youth participants, parents, and team members,
ensuring clear understanding and positive interactions. Leadership
and mentorship skills are applied to inspire and guide youth,
fostering a supportive environment that encourages personal growth
and teamwork. Problem-solving and conflict resolution skills are
frequently employed to address behavioral challenges and maintain a
safe, respectful atmosphere. Additionally, the ability to adapt and
be flexible allows the leader to respond to changing circumstances
and the unique needs of each program and participant.
