Road, West Orange, NJ 07052Job OverviewThe RN Quality Manager, for
the Children s Service line will play a critical leadership role in
standardizing and optimizing quality and safety across the health
system, serving as a recognized resource for consultation to the
pediatric leadership teams by establishing, enhancing, and
maintaining a quality standard of care based on national
benchmarking and comparison with other institutions. This position
will interface directly with the Chief Pediatric Officer as well as
local executive leadership teams to lead efforts to align quality
programs across inpatient sites as well as develop and roll out
quality programs into ambulatory settings. The role will serve as a
central link between sites and service line, ensuring a cohesive,
integrated approach to quality and safety that reflects overall
strategic objectives. The manager works to develop and reinforce a
culture of quality and safety and establishes processes to set
quality goals and monitor and evaluate progress in attaining them.
The ideal candidate will have a background in pediatric patient
safety, performance improvement methodologies, and quality program
oversight.QualificationsRequired:
- Current NJ Registered Nurse license.
- 3 years experience in healthcare quality program management
and/or healthcare process improvement
- Knowledgeable in QI and PI methodology
- Experience with national registries focused on quality and
safety benchmarking in pediatric care
- A proven ability to build consensus and motivate teams of
diverse, multidisciplinary, and multi-departmental
stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively at all
levels of a complex organization.
- Ability to communicate information in a clear and concise
manner that is comprehensible to a wide range of stakeholders
- Ability to utilize metrics and technology in a way that drives
excellence, supports operations and facilitates integration across
a historically disparate organization.

- Manage, facilitate, and provide leadership to the system s
Children s Quality Cabinet, ensuring seamless execution on behalf
of the system Chief Pediatric Officer and site-based Chief Medical
Offers and Quality leadership.
- Act as a liaison between service line leadership and local
quality committees/forums, ensuring alignment of priorities and
initiatives.
- System-wide standardization of quality and safety
- Lead efforts to develop a standardized set of metrics,
policies, and methods for benchmarking and evaluating quality and
safety performance across health system sites; implement and
maintain a unified quality dashboard.
- Work through collaboration with local quality improvement staff
at hospital/ambulatory centers to review or establish
facility-specific pediatric quality and patient safety metrics and
goals.
- Facilitate system participation in national pediatric quality
initiatives for both the inpatient and outpatient settings. (e.g.
AAP EQIPP, AAP VIP, VON, SPS, NSQIP-Pediatric, Improve Care Now,
etc.)
- Coordinate compliance efforts with quality and safety measures
through data collection, dashboard monitoring and analysis of
metrics required for accreditations and external organizations.
(e.g. US News and World Report, AHRQ, Leapfrog, etc.)
- Identify, implement and monitor best practices and standardized
clinical pathways across sites.
- Performance improvement
- Work to reduce pediatric sentinel events and serious safety
events, by utilizing HRO and other evidence-based tools and methods
to review facility incident reports and establish a standard
approach to safety event classification for patient safety and
emotional safety events. Identify actionable trends in aggregate
data and drive corrective action plans.
- Effectively partner with nursing and medical leadership to
determine improvement priorities that are in alignment with
organizational goals.
- In collaboration with hospital leadership and frontline staff,
develop and implement interventions to improve outcomes with aim of
achieving highly reliable care and systems
- Interface with local site-based quality coordinators to provide
organizational support to performance improvement activities.
- Ensure that every pediatric inpatient unit, primary care
practice and subspecialty division is engaged in quality
improvement initiatives that improve the different dimensions of
care delivery including patient safety, care effectiveness, patient
experience and value.
- Safety culture
- Develop strong working teams. Inspire team members to engage in
improvements that achieve high outcomes and work to ensure there
are zero events of preventable harm. Mentor and coach pediatric
team members.
- Drive cross-functional engagement, implementation and
evaluation of clinical quality and safety initiatives that support
patient care, and provide leadership in maintaining an
